A stroll through a colorful farmers market is good medicine for any soul. One of the most convenient for me is the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market. There are several in the Lubbock area, but if you don’t have one you frequent often, this one is worth getting to.

The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market provides local vendors the opportunity to showcase a variety of goods.
Many businesses have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, but the market affords an open, outdoor space on Saturday mornings in the summer and into the fall where masked Lubbockites can mingle over their shared passion of fresh produce and handcrafted items.

Over 50 companies have joined Local LBK, a movement encouraging Lubbockites to support small businesses, with many now offering rewards through the Keep it Local LBK card program.
Taylor McAlpine, founder of Local LBK who is passionate about The Hub City, said he started the business to offer innovative tools to help local entrepreneurs.

The future Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences was listed in a Building Design + Construction article about the economic impact of cultural centers on downtown redevelopments.
The trade publication story highlighted projects with similar impacts in Washington, D.C., Houston and Oklahoma City, among others. The Lubbock section of the article suggests the performing arts center, which is set to open in 2020, will encourage downtown development, since more people will be visiting the area and looking for places to eat, shop and live.
