June 8thMarket Review
Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market June 8thmarket had a great turn out with new vendors, food trucks, and folks from all around visiting. It’s easy to tell who’s a seasoned market goer as they came early to get their pick of goods and enjoy the early morning cool weather and windy atmosphere. Fifty vendors were in attendance at this market with three new producers and two new food trucks making their appearance this week. It was great to meet people who were new from here in Lubbock and even visitors from all the way in New York.
This week’s market featured lots of winter veggies as that season of growing is coming to an end. This includes things like carrots, radishes, beats, bok choy, salad mixes, and berries. These will not be available all summer so join us within the next few weeks for a chance to purchase these seasonal items before they are gone! Vendors also had microgreens, mint, onions, mizuna, spinach, kale, corn, squash, peaches and more. The vendors also had jar goods like pickles from Grandma Nettie’s Pickles, jellies at multiple stands, fruit preserves, infused olive oils, dressings, and honey. Also, in attendance were vendors selling fresh eggs, chicken, pork and beef products with samples available on sticks like from Holy Cow Beef!
LDFM also has vendors who sell baked goods for you and your pups! We have folks like Heaven Sent Gluten Free Foods whose products are all gluten free, organic tortillas from Sarita’s, lots of treat vendors with baked goods and candy goods, a chocolate stand, a macaroon stand, and those who specialize in treat for our furry friends! The market also had vendors specializing in wine, jewelry, macramé, art prints, organic spa products, and more!
For those who just came to browse and enjoy the atmosphere, or those shopping and wanting to eat there LDFM proudly offers a food truck court made up of local trucks that can vary from week to week. LDFM welcomed newcomers like Farm to Fork and E&J BBQ this week. The Garden is graciously allowing market goers to eat their findings in the courtyard in their patio area while being able to enjoy live music each week. LDFM also enjoys our coffee stands for great tasting coffee to keep us on our toes!
The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market provides a family friendly environment and offers a safe, exciting atmosphere in downtown Lubbock. We are also very dog friendly for our well behaved, leashed four-legged visitors. Many of our vendors provide dog bowls to keep your fur babies well hydrated. Our vendor, Sweet Pup Treats sell fresh made doggy treats and The Stand even offers Doggie Snow Cones! Each week we take a photo of the Dog of The Day sponsored by The Tornado Gallery. Congratulations to Nic! He is our Tornado Gallery ‘Dog of the Day!’ for June 8th. We spotted him at the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market. Sit. Stay. Good boy! . Pictured below.
