Visit the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market at our NEW LOCATION in the LHUCA COURTYARD (5th STREET & AVE J)
The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market, the original and still the best market for locally grown produce returns to downtown Lubbock on Saturday June 3rd from 9:00 Am to 1:00 PM and every Saturday through October 14th.
After 14 years located in the Depot District, the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market has moved to the Downtown Arts District! This season we have relocated to the plaza behind the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts at 511 Avenue K. We will also have vendors set up on 5th Street between Avenue K & Avenue J. This move provides a more scenic environment and a more enjoyable shopping experience for our market shoppers and vendors.
The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market, the original and still the best market for locally grown produce! Visit the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market Saturday, June 17th at our NEW LOCATION in the LHUCA PLAZA (5th St & Ave J) from 9:00AM to 1:00PM for a taste of downtown Lubbock, and the finest in local produce, meat, baked goods and arts. We are a kid friendly, dog friendly, family event in the heart of the Downtown Arts District. Be sure to say “Thank You” to our hard-working and dedicated vendors! We are excited to be located in the thriving downtown arts district and hope to see all of our loyal shoppers in this new location.

LDFM Review June 10, 2023

By Paul Bullock & Mary Gates

Entering our third week, we are beginning to settle in….hold on there a minute! We arrived to find that the LHUCA plaza was being set up for a Habitat for Humanity benefit banquet scheduled for Saturday night. The team at the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market went into scramble mode and worked with the folks at Charles Adams Studio Project, which fortunately is directly across the street from the LHUCA plaza. With amazing quickness, vendors were assigned spots for the morning set up. Thank goodness our team is accomplished at solving puzzles, because it was quite an accomplishment to get all the vendors comfortably settled in an unfamiliar space before the Market opening. But they did it, and it was very interesting to see the maze of vendors engage the shoppers as they meandered through the canopied area. The set up allowed for a lot of shaded areas, but also some direct sun in certain spots. The quick change artistry was handled very well and a big round of applause goes to the Market  organizers and the vendors who always work together for the good of the Market, and our supporting shoppers.

The shoppers showed up and, despite the change in location, had no trouble finding the busy, colorful vendors area. The flow of shoppers was excellent! I like the way there are several parking areas and people enter the market from 3 or 4 different directions. The Market transforms into a human ant hill with busy coming and going in all directions. It is exciting to see this busy Market taking deep breaths and running strong again. It was a very busy day in Lubbock with competition from Lubbock Pride, Llano Estacado Wine and Clay and Sip and Shop, but I must say we had our fair share of visitors and  had a great Market! As always the scene is festive with families and friends gathering with lots of hugs and handshakes.

Our dog friends get just as excited as our human friends and we always show our appreciation for our canine buddies by awarding one of our furry visitors the title of Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day! We thought Luke was very deserving of this honor and congratulate him on his Blue Ribbon attitude!

Each week we look forward to putting on a great Market for our supporters. Next week we will move back to the Plaza area at LHUCA on 5th and Ave. J. Stop by between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and join in!

As the weather turns warmer, we are grateful to see SUGA T’S & D’S LEMONADE STAND! Tomarsha and Dennis Phillips make fresh, hand squeezed lemonade that is so delightful on a hot day! They started out 8 years ago during Lemonade Day at their church, then decided that we all need lemonade more than one day a year! For three years now, they have been doing various markets and the First Friday Art Trail at LUHCA, have been featured on the news and in the newspaper, and now hope to be regulars at our weekly market. They’ll squeeze at least 100 lemons for each event and their flavors include strawberry, blue raspberry, pineapple, and the Arnold Palmer (lemonade & tea together). They make their beverages with real fruit, sugar, and lots of love! Come down and give ’em a try!

Thank you to all of those that came to the market and we hope to see you next week at the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market on the LHUCA Plaza.

The market is cohosted by LHUCA and CASP.
