July 5th MARKET REVIEW
by Paul Bullock & Mary Gates
First things first. We would like to welcome Morgan Guffey of MO Productionst to the Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market family. We are grateful to have her expertise and the excitement she brings with her. Welcome aboard Mo!

We got set up and rolling with a first time Watermelon Crawl which offered free watermelon with assorted spices to sprinkle on the melon for a special taste treat. We also offered our very popular Probadita or “a small taste” booth that offered samples of Calabacitas, featuring fresh onions and yellow squash from one of our favorite vendors Block 20. These events were provided by MO Productions and Sustainable Food Center.
Great fun was had by all! Our farmers are farming and bringing in more produce as we get to the summer harvest. Now you can find heirloom tomatoes, onions, corn, yellow squash and zucchini just to mention a few things. We have peaches and cherries too. Our bakers are baking and offer all types of fresh breads and pastries. Our crafters are crafting with arts and crafts including hand jewelry and all types of soap and lotions. We are delighted to offer our shoppers a family friendly experience with a wide variety of products and produce. So come on out and get to know our small businesses owners and the wares that they offer!

Shopping was steady on the 4th of July weekend and we were happy to have our regulars along with some first time visitors and our valued out of town guests as well! We appreciate everyone who takes the time to support our Market including our canine supporters who venture out with their owners. We award one dog the title of Tornado/Industrial Arts Dog of the Day! This is Nadia and she is a beauty!
Thanks for stopping by and gracing our Market. We will be back next Saturday for another session and hope you will join us at Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts Plaza from 9:00 to 1:00.
