ALSO AT THIS WEEK’s MARKET
TASTE OF THE MARKET
One of the most common questions our farmers get asked is “How do I cook this?” or “What is your favorite way to enjoy this”. Thanks to the partnership of @growingtogethertx and @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX, and Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension, Temi Ibiyemi, an AgriLife Master Wellness Volunteer, will provide a “Taste of the Market” recipe demonstration and sampling! Last week Temi made sauteed zucchini and yellow squash with salt and garlic powder and many people were surprised how delicious simply sauteing squash could be. This week Temi will demonstrate blistered shishito peppers purchased from E3 Farms. Make sure to stop by this Saturday to see what Temi will be making for us!
KIDS FARMERS MARKET
Given the rising costs and this summer’s drought everyone has been feeling pinched and our farmers are no exception. To help our customers AND our farmers, we are providing $5 vouchers for produce, honey, plants, or anything that has produce in it (e.g., zucchini bread) to the first 30 kids who come to the Double Up Food Bucks table! We are able to do this for the last three weeks of the market thanks to the @southplainshunger donating the proceeds of their recent #lbkhungersummit . The SPHS Coalition is made up of many organizations that focus on hunger including @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX and @growingtogethertx who are working to increase food access!
We hope to see you at this week’s market!
