KIDS FARMERS MARKET
Given the rising costs and this summer’s drought everyone has been feeling pinched and our farmers are no exception. To help our customers AND our farmers, we are providing $5 vouchers for produce, honey, plants, or anything that has produce in it (e.g., zucchini bread) to the first 30 kids who come to the Double Up Food Bucks table! We are able to do this for the last week of the market thanks to the @southplainshunger donating the proceeds of their recent #lbkhungersummit . The SPHS Coalition is made up of many organizations that focus on hunger including @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX and @growingtogethertx who are working to increase food access!
TASTE OF THE MARKET
One of the most common questions our farmers get asked is “How do I cook this?” or “What is your favorite way to enjoy this”. Thanks to the partnership of @growingtogethertx , @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX, Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension, and Texas Tech Nutrition Department volunteers will provide a “Taste of the Market” recipe demonstration and sampling! Two weeks ago Temi and Teresa made blistered shishitos with oil, salt and lime juice and E3 Farm sold out of shishitos. Stop by this Saturday to try a sweet and spicy eggplant from Block 20 farm!
We hope to see you this Saturday!
