Market Review Oct. 18
By Paul Bullock & Mary Gates
Surprise, surprise! An unexpected rain greeted us for our final Market of the season…but fear not! Although the air and sidewalks were a little damp, our spirits were not. We set up across the street from our usual spot as the Hub City Renaissance Faire was happening in the Plaza.
So, first and foremost, a BIG thank you to Charles Adams Studio Project and Chad Plunket for always being there for us when we need an alternate spot. Chad and Charles have been so very supportive of our Market, and we certainly appreciate it!
The morning started a little slow, but the pace (and the wind) really picked up as many of the people visiting the Renaissance Faire stopped by to check us out. This crossover really made a difference as the latter part of the morning got quite busy. Our vendors did well and our last Market of the season was a great day!
We want to say thank you to all our vendors who participated and helped to make this year another successful Market season. Farmers, bakers, artists and crafts people of all descriptions pitched in to keep us going.
Our regular shoppers make all the difference! We love seeing their smiling faces as they continue to show up with happy greetings week after week. Thanks to all the new comers and occasional shoppers for giving us a try. We especially appreciate those shoppers who brought friends and visiting relatives throughout the year. Believe me, you all matter and we couldn’t do this without our community support.
Thanks to Sustainable Food Center who support our food assistance program (SNAP, DUFB, WIC) who were here to support folks in need of food assistance. Your involvement not only helps our Market, but it also helps so many families who at times struggle to make ends meet. Max and Chris, you did a great job this year! Thanks!
I would like to say that, as a vendor for the past five years, I have met so many wonderful people who work hard in the farm fields and at home crafting their art and handmade wares. We are a community within itself, and we all understand the dedication it takes to commit week after week to our Market, and to other events that keep us busy. We are a group of small business owners who need a viable outlet to sell our goods, and we need support from you, the public. “We are family”…. as the song goes!

We have to also say thanks to all our dog friends who always bring smiles to our faces and make our Market a fun little place for all. We have had plenty of fun with our canine friends, and we end the year by giving the Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day Red Bandana to Judge! You can tell by Judge’s expression that he is thrilled to be our winner!
Last, but certainly not least, THANK YOU CHUCK GREEN for your dedication to our Market… waking so early on Saturdays and arriving promptly in order to ensure set up and success. Plus, posting on Facebook, bookkeeping, public relations, and communicating with current and new vendors…and on and on and on! All of us are grateful for your hard work and devotion.
So, until next year in late May, we bid you farewell and hope to see you again when we start it all up once more in the spring of 2026!
Sincerely Paul Bullock and Mary Gates. We send big hugs to all!
