Market Review Sept. 5th

We opened the month of September with a beautiful morning. Our vendor count was about 14, and the set up went well. We began at 9:00 am, as always, and had a steady stream of customers right off the bat. The heat has been brutal, and has affected both our vendor and shopper numbers. But, hey, we have some very dedicated vendors who are here to bring you fresh produce and great handmade arts and crafts. Thank you to our very supportive shoppers who show up each and every week.
We took notice that we had quite a few out of state visitors. We had people from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Missouri and even a couple who flew from Massachusetts in order to see The Bellamy Brothers who were performing in Gail, Texas at the Coyote Club …wow! We had folks from Austin and Floydada. We also had quite a few new Texas Tech students stop in as they begin their new fall semester. It’s great to have these students checking out our Market and talking with them. They all seem so excited to be here in Lubbock and we certainly are happy to have them stop by our Market. Best of luck to all the incoming students!
Our farmers are still bringing tomatoes, zucchini and yellow squash, black eyed peas, okra, green beans, peppers, cucumbers, onions, eggplant, watermelons, and honey dew melons. We still have a great selection of farm fresh produce to offer. Don’t forget the great section of jams, jellies and local honey as well. We are also still serving our community by offering Double your Dollar savings for local SNAP recipients. This is a great way for folks receiving SNAP benefits to get the most from the program.
We were happy to have Jo’s Doughlights with us this week. I noticed that she sold completely out of all her sourdough bread and sourdough scones and cinnamon rolls. People rave about Jo’s sourdough!
We were also happy to have Flower Taxi with us this week. If you need a bouquet of beautiful flowers you can pop in and make your own bouquet. There is a large assortment of flowers to choose from.
We have a great selection of handmade jewelry, and also beef tallow based oils for those aches and pains that need attention.
We had some great canine visitors, but the best one was Frida! She took the prize of Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day. She looks great in her new Red Bandana.
Please make a note that next week we will be setting up in the Charles Adams Studio Project parking area, which is directly across the street from the LHUCA Plaza. It is located at 5th and Ave J. Snail Farm will be there to provide music for us. We have a very comfortable area for our Market with clean indoor restrooms, wheelchair and stroller friendly surfaces, and plenty of parking available. Stop by between 9:00am and 1:00pm to see what we have to offer. See you there!
