June 15thMarket Review
Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market June 15thmarket was at hot one as temperatures were high in the early morning. Many showed up early to get cooler temperatures and have their pick of fresh produce. Forty-seven vendors were in attendance at this market with a few vendors appearing at the market for the first time this season. It was great to see so many locals taking advantage of the market this week before the baseball game!
This week’s market featured lots of winter veggies as that season of growing is coming to an end. This includes things like carrots, radishes, beats, bok choy, salad mixes, and berries. These will not be available all summer so join us within the next few weeks for a chance to purchase these seasonal items before they are gone! Now that we are getting further into the summer we are starting to see more summer veggies like tomatoes, onions, and cucumber! Vendors also had microgreens, mint, onions, mizuna, spinach, kale, corn, squash, peaches and more. The vendors also had jar goods like pickles from Grandma Nettie’s Pickles, jellies at multiple stands, fruit preserves, infused olive oils, dressings, and honey. Also, in attendance was vendors selling fresh eggs, chicken, pork and beef products with samples available on sticks like from Holy Cow Beef!
LDFM also has vendors who sell baked goods for you and your pups! We have folks like Heaven Sent Gluten Free Foods whose products are all gluten free, organic tortillas from Sarita’s, lots of treat vendors with baked goods and candy goods, a chocolate stand, a macaroon stand, and those who specialize in treat for our furry friends! The market also had vendors specializing in wine, jewelry, macramé, art prints, organic spa products, and more!
For those who just came to browse and enjoy the atmosphere, or those shopping and wanting to eat there, LDFM proudly offers a food truck court made up of local trucks that vary from week to week. The Garden is graciously allowing market goers to eat their findings in their patio area while being able to enjoy live music each week. LDFM also enjoys our coffee stands for great tasting coffee to keep us on our toes!
The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market provides a family friendly environment and offers a safe, exciting atmosphere in downtown Lubbock. We are also very dog friendly for our well behaved, leashed four-legged visitors. Many of our vendors provide dog bowls to keep your fur babies well hydrated. Our vendor, Sweet Pup Treats sell freshly made doggy treats and The Stand even offers Doggie Snow Cones! Each week we take a photo of the Dog of The Day sponsored by The Tornado Gallery. This week we had the Humane Society of West Texas in attendance in the Tornado Gallery courtyard with many well mannered dogs. Black Betty is not only our Tornado Gallery ‘Dog of the Day’ she’s up for adoption! Contact the Humane Society of West Texas!
