Also at THIS WEEK’s MARKET
TASTE OF THE MARKET
One of the most common questions our farmers get asked is “How do I cook this?” or “What is your favorite way to enjoy this”. Thanks to the partnership of @growingtogethertx and @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX , Temi Ibiyemi, a Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension Master Wellness Volunteer, will provide a “Taste of the Market” recipe demonstration and sampling! Temi will demonstrate a black eyed pea salsa using ingredients purchased from our local food vendors. So if you missed the delicious fresh salsa last week make sure to stop by this Saturday to see what Temi will be making for us!
KIDS FARMERS MARKET
We know times have been harder than usual for everyone and given this summer’s drought our farmers are no exception. To help our customers AND our farmers, we are providing $5 vouchers for produce, honey, plants, or anything that has produce in it (e.g., zucchini bread) to the first 30 kids who come to the Double Up Food Bucks table! We are able to do this for the last four weeks of the market thanks to the @southplainshunger donating the proceeds of their recent #lbkhungersummit . The SPHS Coalition is made up of many organizations that focus on hunger including @DoubleUpFoodBucksWestTX and @growingtogethertx who are working to increase food access!
We hope to see you at the market this Saturday, September 24th from 9:00 AM to 1:00PM at 19th Street & Buddy Holly Avenue!
