Market Review Oct. 3rd
By Paul Bullock & Mary Gates
Let me tell you, when the first really cool autumn morning comes around, we vendors know that we are approaching the finish line for Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market. We only have 3 more Markets left this month. We know there are other events that happen this time of year, like the South Plains Fair and College Football, so we expect that things will slow a bit. However, we keep welcoming local customers who are finding us for the first time.
This week we had out of town folks from Austin, Seminole, San Antonio and Gulf Port, Mississippi. Our loyal shoppers got it going. They go from booth to booth with their shopping list and carrying bags.
Chuck passed out a few of our green Farmers Market shopping bags to some new shoppers. The bags were then filled with our fresh local produce. We had three farm families with plenty of onions, okra, tomatoes, peppers, a variety of squash, eggplant and much more. We participate with both Snap and WIC, and we have people ready to help in the process.

We continue to have brand new vendors, and we were happy to have a new baker. Yes folks, The Bread Boule stepped into the Plaza to join our other bakers Jo’s Doughlights and Emerald House Pastry Parlor. From what I hear all three of our bakers were big winners, and so were their customers. If you want some great sourdough breads, brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls or macarons, stop by and check out the wonderful selection we have to offer.

We welcomed our musical group back after last weeks absence. Snail Farm is a fun little acoustic band that plays all types of poplar music… Classic tunes arranged into a most unique sound. Come out and pull up a chair and enjoy some live music.
While the music plays in the air our artists show their work. We have wooden chopping boards and platters, soaps and lotions, handmade wire jewelry, para-cord key rings and bracelets, and so much more. Come out and have a look!

Tito strolled into the the Plaza, and walked out with the Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day Award. Congratulations Tito!
The cooler weather makes it so much more pleasant to get out and about! We are proud to present our Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market as a family and pet friendly outing…easy to navigate for wheelchairs and strollers, with clean indoor restrooms and easy parking.
We are located at 5th and Ave J. in the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts Plaza. We open at 9:00 am and close at 1:00pm. Put on a jacket and stop by to see what we have to offer.
