Market Review Aug. 29th

And just like that, our August Markets are in the record book. With fourteen Markets finished we look forward to our sprint to the finish. We still have eight more Markets left through September and October. Our farmers are ready to see the weather cool a bit and perhaps get a little rain to help them finish their season strong.
Our Market is still bringing in some really great produce with lots of onions, tomatoes, squash, okra, potatoes, corn, eggplant, cantaloupe, and watermelon. There are also jams, jellies, salsas and local honey provided by our farmers.
We applaud our produce providers, Sunburst Farms, Block 20, Forbes Family Backyard Farm and Faith 2 Farm. These small family owned farms have really done a fantastic job this year, despite the grueling summer heat and sparse rainfall. They have kept our Market supplied with wonderful produce. Our hats are off to these hardworking dedicated folks. Don’t forget we honor SNAP and have a double your dollars program to help you get the most from your SNAP benefits.
This week was no different from others in that folks showed up early to beat the heat. They had their shopping bags ready and went straight to their favorite vendors to complete their shopping lists. We certainly appreciate our regulars, and welcome those folks that are just now discovering us.
We had visitors from Austin, and Dallas. Also we had a few Texas Tech students new to Lubbock stop by and check us out.
It was nice to have Snail Farm playing their great music for us, and we were treated to some young dancers. The seated area set up for listening is nicely shaded and was occupied by music fans for most of the morning.
Our vendors are small businesses that offer a variety of handmade goods including jewelry, beadwork, paracord bracelets, keychains, earrings, and leather work.
Oklahoma Flats is providing homemade Beef Tallow based skincare products.
So stop by and enjoy a drink from Caffeinated Cowboy as you stroll through the Plaza and enjoy our Market. Our family friendly Market is easily navigated for strollers and wheelchairs and we make sure our indoor bathrooms are always clean and secure. We also have easy access parking for your convenience.
We love having our canine friends participate, so we have a weekly Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day Award. Daphie was happy to be awarded the coveted Red Bandana. Thanks for stopping by Daphie!
We will kick off our September Markets next Saturday, and hope you will stop by and enjoy our music and friendly conversations. We are located at 5th and Ave. J in the Plaza at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. Our hours are from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We hope to see you there on September the 5th.
